Records and Information Management Month evolved from National Records and Information Management Day, created in 1995 by members of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) US Government Relations Committee to encourage the renewal of the Paperwork Reduction Act. It became a weeklong observance in 1997, was designated as the month of April in 2002, and is now observed internationally.
