'Panchromatic' is used to describe monochromatic (black-and-white) photographic emulsions that accurately reproduce different colors in terms of their relative brightness. Panchromatic emulsions are distinguished from monochromatic or orthochromatic emulsions, which are not sensitive to all portions of the spectrum.-
