model

n. A three-dimensional representation of an idea or object. A simplified representation of something, especially a diagram.

Notes

Model1 includes prototypes, which may suggest the general appearance and parts or may be functional; for example, a patent model. Model implies something that is smaller than the thing it represents; for example, a model railroad. - Model2 may represent a process or concept. For example, the waterfall model describes a method for software development, and IDEF can be used to describe data models.
