In a spreadsheet, a cell may contain a formula that displays a value that has been calculated from values in other cells. Changing the value in one cell affects the values in other cells that refer to the changed value. VisiCalc was the first spreadsheet program for personal computers. Other examples include Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, and Quattro Pro.
