The Society of California Archivists (SCA) was founded in 1971. SCA organizes an annual meeting, supports regional joint meetings, gives awards and scholarships, and advocates on issues of importance to the profession. The organization publishes a quarterly newsletter, the Preserving Your History brochure series, and the Directory of Archival and Manuscript Repositories in California. SCA cosponsors the Western Archives Institute and is an organizational sponsor of the open access Journal of Western Archives, which published its first volume in 2010.
