nonrecord

n. material not considered to fall within the definition of an official record a copy, duplicate, or publication that is kept for purposes of personal reference or convenience material that does not appear on a record retention schedule and that may be destroyed without authorization

Notes

Used primarily in records management to indicate materials that may be destroyed without authorization. Nonrecord3 presumes that all records are scheduled, although in practice schedules may be out-of-date and fail to describe all records held by an organization. As such, the mere fact that materials are not on a schedule is not dispositive of their being a nonrecord.
