The survey was also distributed to the membership of the American Association for State and Local History and the Society of American Archivists’ Cultural Heritage Working Group and Native American Archives Roundtable, as well as to a select list of successful collaborative grant projects funded by the two largest cultural heritage funding agencies: the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Our target audience included a representative group of both tribal and nontribal organizations.
