Notes

Fixed media devices are distinguished from those in which the data is stored on a cartridge, disk, or other material that is removable and interchangeable. Hard drives are typically fixed media, with platters sealed inside the drive chassis. Floppy disk and CD-ROM drives are examples of removable media.
