Notes
The EPrints initiative (see http://www.eprints.org/) had its origins at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. It encourages authors to make the products of their research rapidly and easily accessible in order to maximize and accelerate the impact of that research, in hopes of greater outcomes in productivity, progress, and rewards. Although not required to be considered an EPrints archives, the project encourages the use of open archives initiative (OAI) protocols to make the materials widely accessible.
